Project Focus: Astec Ryder Cup Challenge

Astec Europe and Smiley Monroe got together for a 2025 Ryder Cup Challenge event at Lough Erne Golf Resort to raise funds for two charities.

Astec chose Marie Curie Cancer Care and Smiley Monroe chose the Northern Ireland Air Ambulance with a magnificant total of £12,230 raised from sponsors and contributions from all involved.

The event took place just two weeks before Europe’s historic Ryder Cup victory at the Bethpage Black golf course on the outskirts of New York – and the atmosphere between the teams and fans at Lough Erne was a lot more cordial than during the Bethpage event.

Trying something new for a charity golf event video

We’ve all seen the disposable reels and other charity golf event videos where all you see is a random collection of people hitting shots on a golf course.

We decided for this video to try something different.

Since there was a competition being played by the Astec Europe and Smiley Monroe teams, we decided to add some on course commentary to the event.

This would help viewers follow the action but would also provide them with a more compelling reason to keep watching the video.

The 'sneak preview' video

Just a few days after the event, we created a short ‘sneak preview’ video to be used by Astec Europe across their social media channels.

We created this video in 3 different formats:

Widescreen - for YouTube, Vimeo and embedding on the website

Square - for use on Linkedin, Facebook & Instagram (profile posts)

Vertical - for Instagram and Facebook Reels, YouTube Shorts and TikTok
