Stop talking about what you do. Start talking about why you do it.

It’s not what you do but why you do it that will help you build the army of ambassadors and friends that will make your business a success. This video from The School of Life explains how you can find your own individual mission.

Ok so after launching my own series of video marketing tips yesterday (called Reel Time Tips) the next idea I had was a video outlining why we all need to stop talking about what we do and instead focus on why we do it.

Then I found this video from The School of Life last night which deals with the same subject – which has saved me some work.

Finding your own mission and articulating this effectively is a great way to not only attract new customers, it can also help you to recruit the right people to help your business grow.

Beyond this, once you’ve got the right people giving them this vision of a larger purpose helps you retain these good people – which in itself leads to stronger customer relationships and even more opportunities to grow your business and the reach of your message.

You may think you need big world changing missions in order for this to work – you don’t. All that you need is clarity around what it is that you do that is important for your customers.

Enough of my ramblings – have a watch of the video and let me know what you think.
