The Open is the oldest and most prestigious golf tournament in the world and it returns to Northern Ireland for the first time since 1951 from 14th to 21st July 2019
Tourism NI hosted an information event at The Culloden Estate & Spa in January 2019 to highlight the opportunities that exist for businesses in Northern Ireland as a result of the return of The 148th Open Championship to Royal Portrush Golf Club from 14th to 21st July 2019.
The best golfers in the world will descend on Northern Ireland for the biggest sporting event ever to take place here and Tourism NI presented some statistics gathered from research conducted with visitors.
A stand out figure here was that 60% of the people visiting for The Open intend to visit other sites while they are here – and with an expected crowd of 190,000 visitors that represents a huge opportunity for local accommodation, entertainment and tourist site providers to promote their product to this audience.
